# Citation and credit

FDTDX was created by Yannik Mahlau, Frederik Schubert, Lukas Berg, and Bodo Rosenhahn at Leibniz University Hannover. If the solver contributes to published work, cite the upstream JOSS paper:

For work that depends on behavior or validation added by this fork, also identify **fdtdx-hoodlab**, the exact git commit, and the benchmark case IDs used. Until the fork has its own archival DOI, a software-methods statement is clearer than inventing a separate citation.

Example:

> Simulations used FDTDX (Mahlau et al., 2026), Hood Lab validation fork at commit `<sha>`. Grid and port conventions were checked with cases `parity_waveguide_TE` and `analytical_waveguide_sparams`.

If a result uses a Tidy3D-derived golden, cite Tidy3D according to its authors' current guidance as well. A golden comparison does not make Tidy3D a runtime dependency of the local simulation.
