Emailing PIC companies

Dear [company] team,

  • I am a graduate student at Purdue University.
  • I am planning to make a spin-off company based on technology that I recently demonstrated. The product would be a chip-integrated single-photon source. The preprint of our result is available here in case you are interested. 
  • I am trying to decide the appropriate route to take - do we make our chips in-house at the Birck Nanotechnology Center, or do we contract a third-party make the chips for us. 
  • Our requirements are as follows:
  • Fundamentally, we have a 200-nm thick crystal of pure crystalline anthracene doped with a single-photon emitter (dibenzoterrylene). 
  • We use a micropositioning technique to stamp this onto nanophotonic cavities. We use the Purcell effect to channel photons into the guided mode. 
  • I understand that you have the capability to fabricated si3n4 ring-resonators. What specifications could you make at 780 nm (for example finesse, Q, transmission, etc). 
  • This type of device may benefit from other photonic structures. Do you make other photonic resonators, such as nanobeam cavities or Fabry-Perot cavities? Would it be possible to talk about having you guys make that also?
