Live 12-front curved-mirror beta inverse design#

Live campaign

Service not active · phase running_bounded_beta · checkpoint age 0.4 min. This page is regenerated and republished every minute.

This campaign inserts four fronts between the published 8- and 16-front devices, rasterizes the resulting 12-front-per-side geometry, and uses that literal binary mask as the warm start. After 795 LDOS updates, the objective was switched at the exact displayed checkpoint to β: the fraction of outward power in the two symmetry-related terminal waveguide modes. The trainable object remains a 2D pixel grid extruded through a 200 nm silicon slab in SiO2; no arbitrary 3D voxels are used. The central 1 µm vacuum gap and terminal PML-crossing guides are immutable.

The current differentiated score is log(β) with only a mode/flux normalization-consistency penalty. There is no LDOS or emission guard rail: the optimizer may suppress total emission if doing so increases the guided fraction. β is constructed from one common outer surface as guided power divided by guided + residual x radiation + y radiation + z radiation, so it is bounded to [0, 1]. The port-mode calibration is compared against the complete outward x channel every iteration; an excess is reported explicitly instead of permitting an unphysical β above 100%.

The preceding LDOS phase used matched-vacuum dipole source work. Its independent two-picosecond spectrum and pole fit remain below as frozen diagnostics, not as part of the beta objective.

Three Cartesian mirror planes reduce the differentiated 3D solve by 8×. The dashboard mirrors the stored octant magnitude only for visualization. A single +x port solve represents both physical guides; consequently total β is twice the per-guide value.
